Keywords: high-performance exterior paint, high temperature range, technology
Latitude Exterior Acrylic Latex, Sherwin-Williams’ newest exterior coating, is also its latest to include ClimateFlex Technology, extending the temperature range at which the coating can be used.
“There are many factors to take into consideration to keep exterior painting projects on schedule—but weather doesn’t have to be one of them,” says Rick Watson, director of product information and technical services at Sherwin-Williams. “The technology in Latitude gives professionals and homeowners more flexibility to keep outdoor projects on track while still delivering long-lasting results and optimal application.”
The coating can be applied at temperatures ranging from 35 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Once applied, it offers moisture resistance within 30 minutes, even at 35 degrees Fahrenheit. The resulting durable finish protects against peeling, cracking, and dirt pickup. It also offers hide, coverage, and block resistance, according to the manufacturer.
ClimateFlex Technology from Sherwin Williams enables you to paint longer into both the hot and cold seasons, which is a huge benefit in the Valley of the Sun. The best time for painting the exterior of a house is during warm and dry seasons—our spring and autumn. But homes don’t wait for a specific time of the year before they start peeling and fading, or the HOA sends the dreaded painting violation letter. Enter Latitude Exterior Acrylic Latex paint. The company claims the paint’s moisture resistance kicks in as soon as 30 minutes after application, protecting the freshly painted surface from runs, blisters, or watermarks from a surprise monsoon storm or quick moving winter storm. Latitude allows for even application with air and surface temperatures as cold as 35°F and as hot as 120°F. Compare all of that with other exterior paints, which typically have a temperature application range of 50°F to 90°F.

If the exterior temperature is too cold, you may experience extended dry times, peeling, and inability for latex paint to form a film.
