Keywords: how hot is too hot to paint, Arizona summer heat
There are some rumors going around that say you’re not supposed to paint when the temperature is above 80 degrees. Those rumors are simply NOT true! If they were, we’d never be able to paint in Phoenix.
Here in the Southwest, our paint manufacturers formulate their products to work in the extreme heat of the Arizona desert. The only restrictions they specify are on the cold end of the scale. When working during hot summer days, we take all proper precautions. We start our workday at 6:00 AM and work the shady side of the house as much as possible. That’s best for the paint and the painter.
In addition, we will not apply paint when the sustained temperature of the surface will be over 110 degrees for many hours. This precaution ensures that the paint adheres properly, and it is also for the wellbeing of our crews.
There are a few specialty paints and processes that cannot be properly applied in extreme heat. We will not schedule these projects until autumn weather arrives. One more note . . . our crews especially enjoy painting interiors in June, July, and August. Contact us so we can schedule some summer painting for you.
